Bilingual Senior Casa Classes

  • For children ages 4 and 5, our Senior Casa curriculum is delivered in both English and French using a bilingual Montessori model.  Students attend 5 days per week to provide sufficient time for their studies in both languages.

  • The language of instruction varies during the twice daily work periods depending on the child's needs and selected activity.  The Montessori materials and approach remains the same, just the vocabulary differs.

  • Children in their first year of Senior Casa will focus their language studies on mastery of phonic word-building and reading first in English, while building French vocabulary and oral skills.  Once confidently working with the English phonetic materials, these skills are readily transferrable to French.

  • For children in their second year of Senior Casa, French instruction and assignments during the bilingual work period will be more robust to keep pace with their growing skills.

  • Students will be prepared for the next steps in their academic journey, whether that be our Bilingual Elementary class, a French Immersion program, or an English elementary class with French studies resuming in grade 4.
